Sydney institution The Greenwood Hotel has undergone a complete overhaul – a dramatic new vision for one of the city’s most inspired hotel venues.
The grand Greenwood Hotel was built in 1878, originally as a church and later also used as a school. In 1992 it was bought and turned into a pub, soon becoming one of the North side’s most talked about venues.
In late 2014, Sydney hotelier Nick Wills of The Balmain Pub Group purchased The Greenwood Hotel with a vision. After more than 20 years, the once spectacular venue was in need of some love. Having worked at the pub whilst a university some 20 years prior, Nick was determined to recreate The Greenwood Hotel and make it the superb venue he knew it could be.
The Greenwood Hotel has since undergone a complete transformation and refresh to bring it up to the discerning standards of the new Sydney Hotel scene. The space has undergone a dramatic overhaul with major renovations and completely new décor throughout. The new look Greenwood Hotel is brighter and more spacious, giving this glorious piece of Sydney architecture the character, charm and atmosphere it deserves.
The concept for the all new Greenwood Hotel was simple – create a stylish new space, serve good, honest pub food, craft a beautiful wine list, make smashing cocktails, serve icy cold beers and foster a genuine, happy vibe. Nick has a driven new team to help bring this dream to reality, including Licensee Hannah Holey, who joins the Greenwood Team with over 10 years experience in the hospitality industry, along with the group executive chef and former AHA Chef of the Year, Brad Sloane.
The Greenwood Hotel’s varied and unique line-up of weekly events, including a 2 for 1 pizza night, comprehensive functions packages and plans for a host of live music and events to come has ensured the pub is once again buzzing as the destination on the North Shore. The exciting new look and direction for The Greenwood Hotel has created quite a stir, rather fitting for a destination that is once again living up to its enormous potential.
